Viewing Burial Records

Burial Records can be viewed in Parish Records. Parish Registers are records of baptisms, marriages, and burials made by the Church. They are a valuable resource for researching your family tree because the census and official records of birth, marriage and death do not go back further than 1837.

How will Parish Registers help me with my research?

Parish records can extend your research back to the time of King Henry VIII. Most Parish Records go back to the 1600's, and some even date back to the 1500's.

To find an ancestor using these records, you will need to know where they lived and what church they went to.

What can I expect to find on a Parish Record?

On burial records, you should be able to find:

  • Name
  • Father's name (especially for children)
  • Age
